Education

Obtained a medical degree from Damascus University-Syria, and a master’s of science in public health specialized in epidemiology from Emory University-USA as a Fulbright scholar. Between 2014 and 2020, I was an Erasmus Mundus Doctoral Fellow at VU Amsterdam-The Netherlands and ITM Antwerp-Belgium. In October 2020, I successfully defended my PhD thesis on continuity of care at the primary healthcare level for people living with hypertension in Vietnam as an example of the increased burden of chronic non-communicable diseases on health systems in resource-constrained settings.

Registered “Epidemioloog A” at the Registry of Epidemiologists (Registratie van Epidemiologen) of the Dutch Society of Epidemiology (Vereniging voor Epidemiologie VvE).
